The Sound Brewery in Poulsbo represents the combined efforts
of two accomplished home brewers. Mark Hood and Brad Ginn are both seasoned
homebrew veterans. They are the ones charged with operating the brewery. Before
going pro, Mark Hood’s won a gold medal for his Triple at the National
Homebrewers Conference. Since going pro, the medals keep coming.
Sound Brewery began brewing in Poulsbo in February of 2011
and quickly started pumping out excellent, award-winning beers. In its young
history, Sound Brewery has bagged medals from the World Beer Cup as well as the
North American Beer Awards. In fact, Sound Brewery brought home six medals from
the 2011 North American Beer Awards. This is an amazing feat, given that these
beers were submitted for judging just a couple of months after the brewery
opened. They followed up in 2012 by bringing home four more medals from the
North American Beer Awards.
Mark and Brad opened the brewery with a desire to focus on
Belgian-inspired beers. They have done that, but Sound Brewery also offers other,
more traditionally Northwest style beers as well.
The Sound Brewery tasting room is located inside the
brewery. All ages are welcome. They do not offer any food service, but they do
offer snacks: smoked salmon, cheese, cookies and peanuts from local purveyors.
You are welcome to bring your own food or order something in.
